The Philosophy behind the Punches

Ten years in the ring. Five years coaching. And a philosophy built on one stubborn habit: showing up – even on the days it doesn’t feel like it’s working.

At SPD Fitness, every session is built around one goal: you leaving more confident than you walked in – in your skills, and in your body. No crowded classes, no cookie-cutter program. Just structured, technical boxing training, tailored to what you actually need.

It started with getting beat up

I was 19, fresh out of high school, not particularly good at sports but looking for something to throw myself into. A friend boxed, so I walked into the gym thinking it was easy. I got beat up almost every day. One day it was bad enough that I cried the whole way home. I came back anyway.

That's when an OG in the gym gave me a nickname — Ice — and a piece of advice I never forgot: don't fear any man but God, he bleeds the same blood you do.

Something clicked after that. I got hit a little less. Then a lot less. Then I fell in love with the sport itself — the science of it, the discipline of it. What other people call "hard," I called Tuesday.

From a hard place to a real career

When the pandemic hit, I was in a job I hated, training only because it was part of a deal with my gym. One day I thought: why not coach? I already lived and breathed this — it was time to build something out of it.

I started with whoever would let me train them, learning what actually worked by doing it, session after session, client after client. As the world reopened, that early work turned into something real. That's how SPD was born.

Who this is for

Whether you've never thrown a punch, you're a working professional who needs an outlet before your day starts, or an athlete looking to sharpen your footwork and timing — SPD tailors the work to you. You bring the effort. I build the plan around it.
